My husband and I booked an airboat ride (our first time!) while on a trip to NOLA, and it was so much fun! Our guide, Cory, had a great personality and was very knowledgeable and experienced. We saw a TON of alligators, which being from Northern USA was a first for us. The experience was also a little sobering (in a good way?), because we got to see the ongoing aftermath of Hurricane Ida, something you can’t grasp the reality of unless you see and hear about it firsthand from someone who experienced it. Overall, great experience, well worth the cost and we highly recommend!
Guide: informative and communicated expectations. Took in consideration the weather and stopped multiple times to give information, sun bathe to warm up and enjoy the scenery. Weather: cold 40 degrees and colder when moving. Tour: surprising saw three alligators due to the cold. Didn't expect to see any. Saw a bald eagle and it's nest. Good handful of nutria rats and birds. Tips: dress warm if it's cold. Hats, jackets and warm pants are recommended during anything 50 degrees and below. You can layer up and put them into your bag. Overall: good experience and would recommend. We would go when it's warmer.
We loved the tour! Our guide was Jay and he was super engaging, knowledgeable and funny! He made the tour so fun, we didn’t want it to end! We saw 2 little gators, lots of cool birds and some cows. Jay was very detailed when he talked about the wreckage from hurricane Ida and showed us a lot of the damage/aftermath. I would recommend this tour again and again!
Riding in an airboat is a fun fast way to cover a lot of area in the swamp! Our guide Steve, was well experienced in finding his way around to those areas where the alligators are found, and I’m keeping Is from getting stuck or lost! Also adept at showing and explaining the devastating effects of past hurricanes on the area and the effects of the rise of the ocean level in our coastal areas. For anyone who remains oblivious to world changes and their effects on our fellow human beings, this is a must see.
T Earl was our tour guide, he was a blast to ride with. His stories were amazing to listen to and he really showed his love for the waters he boats on. We actually got to see a couple alligators on a chilly morning where there was no guarantee we would see anything.
